Mentoring
Mentoring at Legacy: One-on-One Discipleship for Spiritual Growth
At Legacy Bible Institute, we believe that spiritual growth happens best in community. Each year, students are assigned a mentor—either a staff member from Upward Bound Youth (UBY) or a leader from their local church—to walk alongside them in their faith journey.
Why Mentorship Matters
Scripture emphasizes the importance of discipleship and wise counsel:
- "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others." – 2 Timothy 2:2
- "Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance." – Proverbs 1:5
Having a dedicated mentor provides guidance, encouragement, accountability, and biblical wisdom, helping students grow in faith and character.
How It Works
- Weekly Meetings – Students meet with their mentor once per week for 1-2 hours.
- Spiritual Guidance – Discussions focus on personal growth, challenges, biblical insights, and practical faith application.
- Mentoring Check-In Cards – After each session, students reflect and record takeaways to track their progress and growth.
More Than Just a Requirement
Mentorship at Legacy is not just a program—it’s an opportunity for deep discipleship, personal accountability, and lifelong encouragement. As students learn in the classroom, serve in ministry, and engage in real-life discipleship, these relationships help shape them into faithful, mature followers of Christ.
