A Christian gap year experience within reach.

Legacy is committed to keeping the cost of the program affordable and attainable for those who desire discipleship, training, community, and equipping as they walk into their future. This is possible through the support of our parent organization, Upward Bound Youth, and donor support.

INCLUSIVE PRICING

$10.5k/year

The cost per student is $300 per week, which translates to $10,500 for the whole year (35 weeks). Cost includes all classes, lodging, groceries, field trips, and more.

GENEROUS ASSISTANCE

Sponsorships Available

Students with financial needs are able to apply for a sponsorship that can cover a portion of their program costs. There are also options for students to raise the remainder of the costs.

Sponsorships

It is our heart that finances do not stand in the way of students' spiritual formation and education in God's Word. Generous funding from our parent ministry, Upward Bound Youth, and various donors can cover a portion of the program costs, depending on the student's financial needs. This can greatly reduce the total program cost, while fostering students' personal investment in their own learning by asking them to be responsible for the remaining portion of the program costs. Please see below for financial assistance options for students with remaining program costs after sponsorships, including fundraising, internships, and more.

  • Requirements for Sponsorship

    To keep their sponsorship, students must demonstrate commitment and diligence in their learning by maintaining the following standards:


    100% completion of all Bible readings

    95% attendance (excluding excused absences)

    70% or higher in:

    • Classroom participation
    • Praxis (hands-on ministry experience)
    • Mentoring engagement
    • Topical assignments
    • Study journals (submitted weekly)

    If a student falls below these standards at any point during the year, their sponsorship may be decreased or suspended until the standards are once again met. For students who persistently fall below these standards, their sponsorship may be revoked entirely.

  • Application Process

    Sponsorships are awarded based on financial need, as determined through the sponsorship application process. To apply for sponsorship for your time at Legacy, you must complete the general Legacy application first, followed by the sponsorship application. After we receive your sponsorship application, we will schedule a video call with you to discuss what level of sponsorship you will be offered, as well as the additional support that we can provide.

Additional Support

Here are some additional options available to incoming Legacy students to help with the cost of the program.

Fundraising

We provide students with fundraising support during their time at Legacy. Our team is able to provide materials to help students share about Legacy with their church, as well as advise on fundraising letters to their loved ones. Each fundraising plan will vary by student, but we are here to support the process.

Part-Time Job

As a way of opening opportunities to share the gospel with nonbelievers and assist with program costs, students are welcome to find a local part-time job (up to 10 hours/week) during their time at Legacy; they can direct their wages towards any remaining balance owed.

Summer Internship

Legacy graduates have the option to apply to work as a summer intern for Upward Bound Youth. Room and board may be available, and interns can direct their wages towards any remaining balance. A very limited number of intern slots are available each summer, and this is not guaranteed for any Legacy graduate. Please contact us to discuss further.

Meet Courtney, one of our 2025-2026 Legacy students! Courtney came to Legacy for a time of deeper learning and growth from her hometown of Medina, Ohio. Courtney is an EMT and has brought her experiences serving others to Legacy with a readiness that is inspiring to see. She helps lead a small group of middle school students at Youth Nights, as well as pitching in wherever the team needs help each week. Some of her favorite hobbies include playing piano, roller blading, and going on road trips. We are so thankful for Courtney and excited to see how the Lord will use her after Legacy.

And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.’ And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.” Luke 24:1-9

We believe that leadership begins with a heart surrendered to Christ. The heart of Legacy is to form young leaders for a life of obedience and learning from Jesus. Christ’s example of leadership is one of radical sacrifice and humility, as he remained perfectly obedient to His Father. We pray that every day we can live like Jesus, as seen in Philippians 2:5-8:  “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” How have you seen Christ-like leadership modeled in your life? Pray with us as we seek to equip leaders who serve like Jesus here at Legacy and beyond.

2025 was a year for the books here at Legacy ? These photos are just the highlights of our fall 2025 semester with our Legacy community. Legacy students continued to join local and global communities in a beautiful way to further Christ’s Kingdom. We celebrated weekly wins, baptisms, a new baby in our director’s family, a new marriage for another staff member, and more. Day 4/4 of our annual trip to North Carolina. All trips must come to an end. ? Today we had one last breakfast together, packed up and went to Church for morning service. After that, we headed back home to Ohio. Growing up in the age of technology has caused us to have false beliefs about the nature of ourselves and the world that we live in. Many of these beliefs are held subconsciously and we don't even realize just how much it affects us and our relationship with God and other people. Last week, the Legacy students participated in the weeklong Digital Discipleship class. They were challenged to reflect on the role that their technology plays in their lives and how God may be calling them to change.

We all know the feeling. In our fast paced western culture, we never seem to have enough time to do all the things that we need to do. This weight and pressure feels inescapable and we become burdened with worry and anxiety as our endless to-do lists get longer. It seems impossible to find time to be still and rest in the presence of God when our minds are constantly running at 100 miles an hour. In Jordan Raynor's book Redeeming Your Time, he offers 7 biblical principles for being purposeful, present & wildly productive as followers of Christ. The first principle that Jordan gives in his book is Spend Time in The Word. Even when our schedules feel full and we feel like we can't find time to spend with God, Jordan urges us to see the value in starting each day in the presence of God and reading His Word. What is the motivation behind our actions? Christ calls us to practice our righteousness in secret. If we are doing things just because we want to be noticed by them, we will have no heavenly reward from the Father. We should ask God to give us a heart for serving others out of a pure heart.
